Evaluation: Question 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product? Why?

This is a drawing of what type of person I would be attracting through my media product. Around this I have wrote the type's of things they would be interested in, what music they would listen too and what Television Programme's they would watch. I believe the type of person who I would be attracting would be rather girly, as they would wear 'girly' colours like pink and purple's. I think this as my magazine is mainly targeted at a female base. I would think they would listen to the typical pop artits, like Rita Ora, One Direction ect. I think this as the genre of my magazine is clearly pop, so they would be attracted to that genre of music. I have put there intrests would be fashion as that's what pop magazine's are mainly associated with.

Evaluation: Question 2- How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The posture of this picture is similar to the one in my magazine contents page as she is standing straight which relates to my pop genre as it is quirky and fun. The gesture of this picture is also similar too mine as they both have their hands in the same place but on mine her hands are further to her face. This relates closely to my genre as it is very 'cheesy' which pop magazines are. The outfit on Taylor is very similar to mine as in mine she is wearing a flowery colourful dress which represents pop through the colours, even though you can only see the top of this outfit you can clearly see that it represents pop through the colours and style. The shot type used in my image is a medium close up where as on the other one it is a close up. These both represent my genre as you can see what they are both wearing and there facial expressions. Her hair has been done simple on my magazine so it suite's her outfit. The facial expressions on both of these are the same as they both have their mouths open which represents my genre as this is what pop artists do. The make up on my model and this one is the same, it was very plain and natural. Woman and young people are perceived as if they would read pop genre magazine's as they are seen as a more 'girly' type, therefore would read something like this with fashion, make up and the latest pop artists ect. As woman are more self conscious they would care about their appearance more which would make them read this genre as there is make up involved. As pop genre magazine's are more of a feminine magazine, therefore woman would be more attracted than men would be.

This image is also very similar to mine as they have the same gesture but this one is more serious. Also as the colours used are very bright which associate with a pop genre.

Evaluation: Question 1 - In what ways does your magazine use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Use-

The colours on my double page spread has been copied from other music magazines as these colours are seen as appropriate for a pop genre as they are very bright and noticeable. I researched on what colours look better and then chose these as they go well together. Also by sticking too the 3 colour rule has made it look better. I have also copied some questions which was asked to the artist to get some ideas, I then made the rest up myself which suited the pop genre. The image was taken with other pop magazines in mind as the models in them also wear bright colourful things, if they are a girl it is usually a skirt or dress. I chose a dress with these colours as it suite's my pop genre. I have also looked at a Top of the Pops double page spread to get ideas from as it suite's my genre, I have copied the layout but developed it so it looks different. I have used the same sort of masthead design on how it is positioned at the size of it. I changed the colour's so it was more suited to the female artist. I also kept the font size nearly the same as the top of the pops magazine as I felt this was more appropriate for my genre as the picture is more of a focus point on Top of the Pops magazine as it is always larger and noticeable.

Develop-

As I got my idea's from a top of the pops double page spread, I used the same kind of layour but changed it a little bit. As Top of the pops is a pop genre, which is suitable for what I needed. I used pink boxes to add my questions and answers in. I also developed my double page spread as I used a rather large image of my model, whereas on other magazine's they are never that large. I did this as it emphasis who the interview is with and what it is about. I have copied the layout but developed it so it looks different. I also used the same sort of box's the text was in as it suited my genre, but I changed the box colour to pink so its different. Also I added the same diagonal lines which was on Top of the Pops magazine as this also suited my genre.

Challenge-

As I got a couple of my idea's from a Top of the Pops magazine, I challenged my own magazine as I changed the image. Instead of doing a stereotpyical shot, like them being happy for example. I changed it so she's looking away so you can't see her face. You would then not know what to expect within the text, if it was good or bad. I also challenged it by using very similar colours, on other magazine's they tend to use 3 colours not to similar but match appropriately. I used a couple of shade's of pink to make it look more 'girly' as you would associate my magazine more for girls.

Evaluation: Question 1 - In what ways does your magazine use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Use

I have copied elements from other pop magazine contents pages to make mine look more appropriate for my genre. For example I have copied the layout of the columns as in pop magazines. they are all situated in neat columns. I have also got ideas of other magazines for my cover lines, I have looked at them to get a rough idea of what too include on mine like fashion and music downloads ect. By doing this, this represents my genre as in stereotypical pop magazines, this is what is included. Also the colours I have chosen has been copied of other magazines, I researched on what colours are more appropriate for pop music magazines so I could use them on mine. I chose these colours as they make my magazine look more of a pop genre as they are very bright and colourful. I used the colours from top of the pops as they were suitable for the genre I was doing, but I also added the colour purple as it also is associated with a pop genre.  Also the love hearts next too the 'inside this week' has been influenced by other magazines as on pop magazines these sort of things are used as they are seen as 'girly'. I also kept the fonts within the box's the same and also the sizes as the Top of the Pops magazine as I felt this was more suitable for my genre and suited it.

Develop

I have developed my contents page as I looked at other pop magazine's like Top of the Pops for example and got a few idea's from it.I needed my contents page to look similar to there's so I used box's to put my coverlines and stories in as they did. I added extra effect by putting drop shadows on the box's as it looks more like a pop genre. I also put a few images on which I took of make up and nail varnish as that's what is associated with a pop magazine. Also as I put an image of my magazine at the top left corner with arrows coming of it on which pages certain things are on, this is also from top of the pops but I challenged this by using a different type of arrow technique's coming from the magazine.

Challenge

I have used heart shapes coming from from the magazine cover page image I put on to show what pages the main stories are on. I challenged this as instead of just writing the numbers out like the Top of The Pops magazine did, I put them in hearts to make this more detailed and suitable for my genre. As they are pink, this sticks to my 3 colour rule which represents my magazine genre. I also challenged it further as on the box's my cover stories are in, I put a darker drop shadow on them to make them more noticeable.

Evaluation: Question 1 - In what ways does your magazine use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Use

I have copied elements from other pop magazine's as it suited my genre. I have copied the mast head layout and size as it suite's my genre well. I have also copied the likes off my image. I have done this because images on pop magazine's are very 'happy, as you can tell by my models facial expressions. I have looked at other pop magazine's models too get an idea on what too use for mine and their type of postures and gestures, by doing this it has shown what my genre is. Also I looked at the clothing they wear, they wore very bright 'cheerful' colours. So I decided on my model too wear as shown as it represents pop. I looked at the magazine, Top of the Pops to decide on where my masthead should go and what colour it should be. I decided on the colour purple as it suite's my genre. I also kept the font sizes reasonably the same as other magazines, I made then headline a bit larger so it attracts more attention and focus.

Develop

I researched other pop magazine's like Top of the Pops and looked at the design on their mastheads. I developed this by choosing a different colour to use for my masthead instead of the stereotypical pink used. I used purple instead which is still associated with a pop genre. I also developed my magazine by not using as many coverlines which a Pop magazine would usually have, I did this because my magazine looked better with only a small amount off coverlines. I also developed my cover page as I added little box's at the bottom with things like 'exclusive interviews', as on Top of the Pops they had a box just at the top. I added one to the bottom to develop this further. I made my coverlines a bit larger than other magazines as I felt they needed to be larger as they looked better. Whereas when they were small, they were very hard to small and squashed together. I also made my artists name a lot larger as it would attract the readers attention as it would be the first thing they would notice.

Challenge

As I looked at other images on pop magazines too get an idea on what type of pose I would like my model too do, I changed it around by getting my model too pose like this. There are not many magazines in which their model is stood like this, so I chose this as it looks different compared too others yet it is still related too the pop genre.I also challenged my cover page as I added a pink and white border around my masthead, I did this as I didn't want it to look to similar to another current magazine.

Research&Planning-Images I have taken

I have chosen to use the 1st, 11th, 12th and 15th image as these were all appropriate for my genre. As my model is wearing a brightly coloured dress this suites my genre as this is what is associated with a pop genre, 'happy' and 'quirky' colours. Also as the facial expressions on my model are appropriate as on other pop magazine's they always come across as 'over happy'. As I have included images of nail varnishes this suites my genre as this is the sort of thing you would find in other typical pop magazines like Top of the Pops. Things like that are associated with pop as it is mainly based on young girls/teenagers, this is because they are more focused based on their appearance eg- fashion, make up and cosmetics.
