Evaluation: Question 1 - In what ways does your magazine use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Use-

The colours on my double page spread has been copied from other music magazines as these colours are seen as appropriate for a pop genre as they are very bright and noticeable. I researched on what colours look better and then chose these as they go well together. Also by sticking too the 3 colour rule has made it look better. I have also copied some questions which was asked to the artist to get some ideas, I then made the rest up myself which suited the pop genre. The image was taken with other pop magazines in mind as the models in them also wear bright colourful things, if they are a girl it is usually a skirt or dress. I chose a dress with these colours as it suite's my pop genre. I have also looked at a Top of the Pops double page spread to get ideas from as it suite's my genre, I have copied the layout but developed it so it looks different. I have used the same sort of masthead design on how it is positioned at the size of it. I changed the colour's so it was more suited to the female artist. I also kept the font size nearly the same as the top of the pops magazine as I felt this was more appropriate for my genre as the picture is more of a focus point on Top of the Pops magazine as it is always larger and noticeable.

Develop-

As I got my idea's from a top of the pops double page spread, I used the same kind of layour but changed it a little bit. As Top of the pops is a pop genre, which is suitable for what I needed. I used pink boxes to add my questions and answers in. I also developed my double page spread as I used a rather large image of my model, whereas on other magazine's they are never that large. I did this as it emphasis who the interview is with and what it is about. I have copied the layout but developed it so it looks different. I also used the same sort of box's the text was in as it suited my genre, but I changed the box colour to pink so its different. Also I added the same diagonal lines which was on Top of the Pops magazine as this also suited my genre.

Challenge-

As I got a couple of my idea's from a Top of the Pops magazine, I challenged my own magazine as I changed the image. Instead of doing a stereotpyical shot, like them being happy for example. I changed it so she's looking away so you can't see her face. You would then not know what to expect within the text, if it was good or bad. I also challenged it by using very similar colours, on other magazine's they tend to use 3 colours not to similar but match appropriately. I used a couple of shade's of pink to make it look more 'girly' as you would associate my magazine more for girls.
